Dissemination

Layman's report.

The layman's report explains the importance of the bogs for biodiversity and climate, and provides information on the project's results. Information is given on challenges in connection with the realization of the sub-projects and a number of recommendations are given based on the experiences with the LIFE raised bog project. The layman's report also provides a brief description of the individual project areas, descriptions of restoration measures, as well as matters relating to dissemination and involvement of the public.

Peatlands - climate regulation and biodiversity

Peatlands are habitats with a highly specialized flora and fauna. But peatlands also play an important role in global climate regulation. Peatlands cover only 3% of the land, but contain more carbon than the entire forest biomass of the world. When peatlands are drained, the hitherto well preserved carbon is released as greenhouse gas to the atmosphere. That is why it is important to keep the peatlands wet. For biodiversity conservation and for the climate.
This film is focusing on the importance of preserving and restoring peatlands and gives examples of restoration projects from the Nordic and Baltic countries.

Podcasts

In 2023, a number of podcasts have been developed as a supplement to existing communication. Short audio narratives that present the nature type, the special challenges in the restoration of raised bogs, the raised bogs in a climate perspective and then, of course, presentation of the special species associated with the raised bogs.
The audio narrations can be heard by scanning QR codes in the project areas or downloaded here.
